  33. If I am given two choices as follows on some inexpensive coax at a hamfest  
  34. fleamarket which do I buyY

  36. The cables are identical in every way, same markings, price, length, etc.

  38. At 144 MHz, when I measure the SWR with an accurate SWR meter one cable  
  39. gives a SWR = 10 and the other gives SWR = 6.  (SWR being measured at one  
  40. end and the other end open (Or shorted.)

  42. Which cable should I buy?

  55. I want to make some precise antenna gain measurements on 144 MHz.  Can anyone
  56. recommend an instrument to do this?  Typical field strength meters don't
  57. have very good resolution - I'ld prefer something with a digital readout.

  59. A while back I saw an ad in QST for a small field strength meter with a 
  60. digital readout.  Has anyone tried one of these?

  62. It doesn't have to give exact dB....what I really need is a multi-digit
  63. number that is monotonic increasing with increasing field strength.
  64. Accuracy on an absolute scale is not that important - what I really need
  65. is lots of digits of precision.  If the extra digits don't mean anything,
  66. that's OK - as long as they're monotonic increasing.

  68. I want to try tweaking antennas and comparing them, where the differences
  69. in gain may be subtle (<1 dB per adjustment).
